CITY TERRACE – A simple traffic stop morphed into a long-distance pursuit on 03/07/2021 when Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted contact with the driver of a vehicle near the City Terrace area at approximately 9:34 PM.

Deputies had reason to suspect that the vehicle contained an illegal assault rifle. The driver, apparently, had reason to flee into the dark night, with Deputies giving chase.

“The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit ensued, travelling eastbound on the 10 Freeway,” said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Tracy Koerner.

A nearly thirty-mile hot-pursuit later – “The vehicle crashed at the S. Towne Ave. exit in the city of Pomona while attempting to exit the 10 Freeway at a high rate of speed,” said Deputy Koerner.

Thankfully, the anonymous Hispanic adult occupants of the getaway vehicle – two females and one male – survived the crash. “A firearm was recovered at the scene,” said Deputy Koerner.

The three suspects were placed under arrest at the scene of the traffic collision, and charged with Possession of an Illegal Firearm.

At this time, there is no further information being released regarding the ongoing investigation into this incident.
