Olympic Gold Medal Winner Accused of Sex with Minor Female

LOS ANGELES – 53-year-old Paul Gonzales has been charged with four counts of lewd acts on a child and one count of attempted lewd act on a child, possession of child pornography, showing pornography to a minor, and contact with a minor for sex.

Gonzales is a youth boxing coach at the Eddie Heredia Boxing Club in East Los Angeles. He won a gold medal in the 1984 Summer Olympics for boxing.

The suspect has occasionally been involved as a trainer for the 13-year-old victim.  The crimes allegedly occurred between May and December of last year.

If found guilty, Gonzales faces up to 18 years and four months in prison.
