SJPD Arrests Suspect in Homicide

SAN JOSE – The San Jose Police Department has announced the arrest of 24-year-old Lejon Terrel Rhodes for the murder of 44-year-old Jamal Wright on December 2, 2017. According to San Jose Police Officer Gina Tepoorten, “On Saturday, December 2, 2017, at approximately 3:36 AM, San Jose police officers responded to a person shot in the 1200 block of Santa Clara Street in San Jose.”

Evidence collected at the scene lead to the identity of Rhodes, who had fled the scene just seconds after he shot Wright multiple times during a dispute. The shooting death of Wright marked the city’s 30th homicide of the year.

During a brief two week investigation into the shooting, detectives were able to track down the suspected gunman at a home in San Francisco. “On Wednesday, December 20, 2017, the suspect was arrested in San Francisco by the San Jose Police Department’s Covert Response Unit,” Tepoorten said. “Suspect Rhodes was booked into Santa Clara County jail for Murder.”
