Gabriel Hinojosa and Jesus Osornio

Residents and business owners of downtown Fresno reported unrelenting problems with drug sales in their area prompting the Downtown Policing Unit to launch an investigation. A two-month long operation concluded in the arrest of a suspected drug dealer and 97 grams of various illegal drugs.

A search warrant was authored by Officer Sean Morris, lead investigator, who identified 49 year old Gabriel Hinojosa as the suspected drug dealer residing in a hotel in downtown Fresno’s Chinatown.

On September 1st, the Downtown Policing Unit and Special Response Team served the search warrant at The Hotel D’Italia, nicknamed “Jazzy’s,” located at 1474 Fresno Street.

Hinojosa, a member of the East Fresno Bulldog Gang, was in possession of 2 firearms: a 12 gauge shotgun and a 9mm handgun. In his room was also found “over $3000 in cash, 28 grams of suspected heroin, 13 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 56 grams of suspected marijuana, six scales, and packaging material,” reported the Fresno Police Department.

As a convicted felon, it is illegal for Hinojosa to be in possession of any firearms. He was arrested for this violation in addition to charges of stolen property and narcotic sales.

Thirty-four year old Jesus Osornio of Fresno, who claimed to be visiting Hinojosa, was also arrested at the scene for violating the conditions of his probation.

Both men were booked at the Fresno County Jail.
