Two Search Warrants Yield Two Arrests

Drugs, cash and gun seized (KCSO)

DELANO — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office Gang Street Enforcement Unit executed two search warrants on Wednesday, assisted by two other “drug teams.”

The two homes that were searched were located on the 600 and 700 blocks of Belmont Street and resulted in two arrests. Authorities discovered 8 pounds of packaged meth, 3 pounds of heroin, rock cocaine, and a loaded semi-automatic handgun.

46-year-old Hector Avelar was arrested for selling or giving a controlled substance to a minor at a school or public place, possession of cocaine base for sale, possession of controlled substance for sale, maintaining a residence to sell a controlled substance, and conspiracy.

30-year-old Sergio Millan was arrested for the same set of charges, as well as possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm.

Their bonds were set at $120,00 and $140,000, respectively.
