HUMBOLDT COUNTY — 50-year-old James Martin Pawlyk is in custody after a two-week jaunt in which he reportedly posed as an FBI agent.

Officers from multiple agencies including CHP, Arcata PD, and Eureka PD, assisted in the investigation and arrest. The arrest came on June 21st at 12 PM, when Pawlyk’s vehicle was seen driving on Northbound Highway 101.

Pawlyk was detained by CHP and shortly arrested by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.

Among a myriad of other things, Pawlyk is accused by the multiple agencies of trying to run over Walgreens employees, felony vandalism, brandishing, and likely five more similar cases.

While the investigation remains ongoing, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office notes in a press release that additional criminal charges are likely.

Pawlyk was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on $75,000 bail.
