MONTEREY COUNTY — 35-year-old Jesse David Martinez has been sentenced to 44 months in state prison on charges of “possession of firearm by a felon, possession of ammunition by a felon, and possession of methamphetamine.”

Last year, on August 23rd, Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies pulled over a pickup truck Martinez was driving. Inside, they discovered a plastic bag of methamphetamine, a meth pipe, and five shaved keys.

A loaded, sawed-off semi-automatic rifle with the serial number filed off was also found in the truck bed.

Given his prior convictions, Martinez was forbidden from owning or possessing firearms or ammunition.

The DA’s Office notes in a press release that, due to a Three-Strikes Law conviction in 2010, Martinez had his sentence doubled.
