BERKELEY – Officers responding to a report of a burglary in progress last Thursday night arrived within minutes, and located two suspects walking away from the crime scene.

A neighbor provided descriptions of a man and a woman seen breaking into a residence on 2800 block of Sacramento Street, whom police quickly detained, questioned, and arrested on March 30.

A broken window was located at the residence and during the police investigation, officers identified the suspects as Reginald Patillo, 51, and Kizzie Sandling, 38, both of Concord.

Patillo’s vehicle was parked in front of the burglarized residence and searched by police, who recovered numerous items, including burglary tools and an empty gun magazine.

Patillo was arrested and charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, felony use of tear gas, assault with caustic chemicals, and probation violation. He’s in custody at Santa Rita Jail in lieu of $55,000 bond.

Sandling was booked for burglary, grand theft, petty theft, and probation violation. She’s also being held at Santa Rita Jail, with her bail for release set at $50,000.
