Stolen Car, Stolen Electronics, Captured Crooks

Daniel Borchardt and Angel Sanchez

FRESNO — During the early hours on Tuesday, two FPD officers responded to a burglary alarm at the Verizon Store at 997 E. Champlain.

As they arrived, they received a second burglary alarm call coming from the Scepter and Sash store at 1528 E. Champlain.  They immediately proceeded there and encountered a Toyota Camry speeding away with two occupants.

Officers attempted to stop the car but, out of concern for public safety, discontinued the chase.

But the fleeing Toyota lost use of its front tires and shot out sparks as it attempted to continue. Since that wasn’t working, the two suspects got out and ran into a residence in the 3900 block of E. Pontiac Way.

Soon 35-year-old Daniel Borchardt and 25-year-old Angel Sanchez were under arrest for burglary, conspiracy stolen property, and possession of a stolen vehicle.

The Camry was reported stolen on January 11.  The duo stole electronics from the Verizon store but were unsuccessful breaking into Scepter and Sash.
