Fresno Sheriff’s Department

FRESNO — A 17-year-old juvenile is under arrest and charged with murder in the stabbing death of his 74-year-old great grandmother.

On Sunday evening, officers responded to a home on the 2000 block of N. Polk Avenue in Fresno. They soon found an unconscious Lupe Suarez suffering from stab wounds.

Although Suarez was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, she died from her wounds.

The suspect was identified as her 17-year-old great grandson.  He was not at home at the time of their initial arrival, but returned shortly thereafter.

The suspect then cooperated with deputies and they recovered the weapon used in the attack. His name is not being released because of his age.
