Fresno man accused of pimping woman out of local hotel

A Fresno gang member has been arrested and charged for alleged pimping, according to police.

The Fresno County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against a 48-year-old man, a known West Fresno gang member, accused of pimping a woman at a local hotel.

Investigators had already spoken with the victim in March 2021, at which time she reportedly claimed she was not a victim. Detectives nonetheless provided her with resources and phone numbers for human trafficking victims.

In early August, police received a call from the woman, stating she was indeed being trafficked. Detectives then reopened the case and secured a warrant for the suspect’s arrest, which ultimately took place on August 23.

On August 25, the District Attorney’s office filed formal charges. The suspect’s name and photo have not been released.
