Mother Jailed, Children in Custody at Juvenile Hall

Embassy Suites Hotel in San Rafael

SAN RAFAEL – A mother was arrested inside a hotel room and her two children were taken into protective custody, after police found them outside on the roof of the Embassy Suites Hotel, located at 101 McIinnis Parkway near the Marin Civic Center.

Alana R. Peralta, 36, of San Rafael, who uses the alias Alana Scarbrough, was booked at Marin County Jail on Dec. 7, where she’s being held for $3,000 bail.

Peralta is charged with contributing to the delinquency of minors, grand theft, felony theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of stolen property, and probation violation.

San Rafael police said Peralta denied any knowledge of the whereabouts of her children, delaying and making no effort to assist officers trying to locate the minors, whom police said were runaways.

They were found by officers about 35 minutes later, outside huddling and shivering in the rain on the hotel roof. Officers soon afterwards transported them to Marin County Juvenile Hall.

Peralta’s arrest report mentions that it would be in the best interest of those juveniles not to have any contact with another woman identified only by her surname Khayami, alias Jones, whom police said has a prior arrest record for pimping and pandering a runaway girl.
