Fresno Police Say Man Pointed Gun at Tow Truck Driver

FRESNO – A man was arrested on Sunday on weapons charges after he allegedly pointed a gun at a tow truck driver at an apartment complex in southeast Fresno.

Police arrested 39-year-old Silverio Valdez on suspicion of possessing a loaded and concealed firearm, possessing a firearm in a vehicle, and assault with a deadly weapon.

The incident took place around 12:50 a.m. when Valdez parked behind a tow truck at the Silver Lake apartment complex in the 5400 block of East Belmont Avenue, authorities said.

When the tow truck driver approached Valdez’s car to tell Valdez that he would be out of his way soon, Valdez pulled out a gun and pointed it at the tow truck driver and cursed at him, authorities said. The victim backed away and called police.

Valdez drove out of the complex, but the tow truck driver followed him while on the phone with police and officers were able to stop Valdez near Chestnut and McKinley avenues, authorities said.

Officers found a loaded .38-caliber revolver and speed loader in the center console of the suspect’s vehicle, authorities said.
