Citizen Chases Thief into Police Grasp

The Grover Beach Police arrested two men for allegedly possessing stolen property believed to be stolen from vehicles in a residential neighborhood.

According to GBPD, they received a report last Monday around 3:34 p.m. from a resident who reported he had just chased a suspicious individual who was prowling around his car which was parked in his driveway. The incident occurred on N. 12th Street and Ritchie Road.

Officers who arrived on the scene located two men and a seventeen-year-old male a block away from the area of the call.
Police detained all three and initiated an investigation, in which they discovered a nearby vehicle that belonged to one of the men.

A search of the vehicle yielded property that had recently been stolen from several vehicles in Pismo Beach and Arroyo Grande.

Investigators are working with local agencies to return the recovered property to the rightful owners.
The seventeen-year-old male was released at the scene to his father.

Police arrested Vincent Vega, 18, of Arroyo Grande. Vega was cite released at the scene for possession of a controlled substance.

Also arrested was Brody Cole Gilbert, 18, of Arroyo Grande for possession of a controlled substance and possession of stolen property that was located within his vehicle.

Gilbert was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail.
