San Jose Police confirm the shooting death of yet another suspect in a recent homicide

The San Jose Police are confirming this week that a second officer-involved-shooting took place in the city just days after SJPD shot and killed a homicide suspect. Now, a second suspect in the homicide has been killed. This shooting comes just days after the SJPD announced the murder of an unarmed man in a business complex on the 1800 block of Lundy Avenue in San Jose on Thursday, August 13.

The victim in that deadly shooting has now been identified as 38-year-old Christopher Maxwell Wrenn. None of the suspects, including the two who have now been shot and killed, have been identified of yet. However, police are hoping that the third suspect will turn himself in.

The shooting involving the first suspect occurred on Monday when police located him at a local strip mall on the 3100 block of Senter Road. The suspect refused to cooperate and started to pull out a hand gun, and was then shot by police.

The three suspects caught in surveillance video. The man on the right has yet to be identified.

According to police, the shooting of the second suspect occurred shortly before 7 p.m. Monday near Kirkhaven Court and Stoneyhaven Way in San Jose. Police are being tight lipped about the incident as they are still searching for a third suspect in the shooting of Wrenn on last Thursday.

But what is also so startling about this case is that the department learned that the second suspect was driving with another possible victim. Police believe that the suspect intended to kill a female occupant of his vehicle, when police located him and gave chase. The suspect tried to elude police at high rates of speed, but eventually lost control and crashed. According to SJPD, officers fired when the suspect began to reach for his waistband.

Referring to the original incident on Lundy Avenue when Christpoher Wrenn was killed, SJPD Sgt. Enrique Garcia said, “surveillance video showed the three suspects terrorizing the victim before he was fatally shot.” It was reported that the suspects were armed with a handgun, assault rifle, and another weapon when they assaulted and killed the victim.

Matthew Castillo and Richard Jacquez, identified as the deceased suspects in the Wrenn murder.

Police are still on the hunt for the third man and have asked that he surrender to police to avoid any further dangerous incidents in this matter. The names of the suspects will likely be released after the third one is arrested.

UPDATE:  San Jose police have identified the men who were killed as suspects in the death of Wrenn as Matthew Castillo, 29 and Richard Jacquez, 40, both of San Jose. The third suspect has yet to be identified or captured.
