Cathedral City Man Popped for GTA, Embezzlement, Fake I.D.

HAWTHORNE, CA—Whether he stole the car to get back home near Palm Springs, or to get to the South Bay is unknown, but he probably won’t be going home to Cathedral City any time soon.

Daniel Edwin Godoy, 33, was arrested on Sunday, February 22 at approximately 8:45 a.m. The Cathedral City resident was picked up along the 12800 block of Inglewood Avenue in Hawthorne, just three blocks from Hawthorne Police HQ. He was charged with grand theft: auto (487(D)PCGTA), embezzlement of leased property over $400 (504APC), receiving known stolen property (496(A)PC), forging an official seal (472PC) and driving with a suspended/revoked license (14601.1AVC). He was also found to have a warrant from Hermosa Beach PD for a previous violation of driving with a suspended license.

Total bail was set at $105,300. The GTA charge was the largest at $35,000 whereas the suspended license was only $300.

With a bail of that amount, he may as well make the South Bay his new home away from home.
