All Three Suspects Were On Active Probation

WATSONVILLE—Watsonville Police arrested three suspects who were drinking and smoking at a local park after police responded to a citizen’s complaint.  Police arrested Isaac Avalos, 25, and Andres Trejo-Gomez, 18, both were residents of Watsonville.

Last Thursday afternoon, Watsonville Police Department Patrol Officers responded to Flodberg Park on a citizen’s complaint of males drinking and smoking at the park.

Members of the Santa Cruz Anti-Crime Team Gang Task Force (GTF) were nearby, so they decided to respond to the call. Once the team arrived, all but one of the suspects ran from the park in different directions.

A 17-year-old juvenile was the only one that remained. With the assistance of Watsonville Police Department the GTF agents were able to locate two other suspects, identified at Avalos and Trejo-Gomez.

Authorities also found evidence of alcohol consumption, which might have led to an easy citation, but lying next to the alcohol was a loaded firearm. All three were arrested for possession of the loaded firearm. Avalos and Gomez received an additional charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Avalos and Gomez were transported to Santa Cruz County Jail. Their bail has been set at $50,000.00 each.  “All three were on active probation.” Sergeant Stefan Fish of SCCACT wrote in a press release, “The gun was not registered and has not been reported stolen.”

The juvenile was transported to the Santa Cruz County Juvenile Detention Center.
