Man Abuses Girlfriend, Threatens Their Children

On July 6, 2014 at around 6:00 a.m. in Manchester, CA, there was a 911 call to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office from Constance Lopez, 32. The call was quickly disconnected after she yelled “help”.

According to the report, Lopez had called 911 earlier because her and Steven Vancleave, 36, were in a heated argument. During the argument, Lopez claimed that Vancleave threw a knife that threatened their children, who were ages 6 and 10 males (names not identified). Vancleave also reportedly assaulted Lopez and wrestled the phone away from her when she called 911, indicating why the conversation quickly disconnected.

Lopez’s injuries and/or wounds were not reported, so she seems to be fine. The children were not harmed during the incident.

Vancleave was arrested without incident.

He was charged for Child Abuse (PC 273A), Witness Intimidation (PC 136.1), and Misdemeanor Spousal Battery (PC 243(E)(1)).

He was booked at the Mendocino County Jail and his bail is set at $25,000.
