Was Gardener Arrested for Showing His Hose?

HAWTHORNE, CA—The seed he sowed may well have harvested a life of hard-wrought dirt.

Jose Ignacio Fuentes, 43, was picked up along the 100 block of Redondo Avenue on Friday, March 26, at approximately 7:15 a.m. It is unknown why Hawthorne police stopped the 5′ 5,” 150-pound man.

The Hawthorne resident and self-proclaimed gardener did have two outstanding warrants. The lesser one was served by Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department (LASD) for the charge of “failure to appear” and had an amount of $521. It remains unknown what charge was put forth by the LASD that eventually became the “failure to appear” warrant.

The other warrant was by the Hawthorne Police Department for “lewd or lascivious behavior” and had a bail set at $220,000. The latter charge appears to indicate warrant associated with Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Fuentes was not available to shed light on the row he hoed and LAX spokespersons did not return requests for comment.
