Rocklin PD Make Arrest in Vehicle Theft

A Granite Bay resident was recently arrested for the theft of a U-Haul pickup, according to an official statement from the Rocklin Police Department.

Luke Longstreet, 30, of Granite Bay was reportedly arrested.

According to Rocklin PD, on January 6, 2014, at approximately 2:30 pm, detectives from the Placer County Regional Auto Theft Task Force (RATTF) had located a stolen U-Haul pickup truck at the Heritage Inn in Rocklin. While detectives were reportedly contacting the victim by phone, a suspect exited the hotel and got into the vehicle.

With the assistance of several Rocklin police officers, an enforcement stop was reportedly made as the vehicle left the parking lot, and the driver — later identified as Longstreet — was taken into custody without incident.

According to Rocklin PD, a search of the vehicle revealed narcotics, stolen mail, stolen checks, and significant evidence of identity theft. Additionally, officers reportedly found blank checks, laser printers, and check printing software in both the stolen vehicle and Longstreet’s hotel room.

At the time of this report, numerous victims had reportedly been identified and a lengthy follow up investigation is under way by RATTF detectives to locate additional victims.
