Police Make Arrest in Alleged National City Rape Case

Officers have made an arrest regarding the alleged rape case of a woman this last week in National City.

2400 Block of East 8th Street

The incident occurred  when the suspect, 24 year-old Damone Carter, invited a woman he met on the online dating site Plenty of Fish to his apartment in the 2400 block of East 8th Street.

The two had been communicating with one another for a week before they decided to meet each other in person on Friday the 21st at Carter’s apartment.

According to the victim, who is in her mid-twenties, she arrived at Carter’s apartment as agreed, at which point he forced himself on her and raped her.

After the attack, the victim was able to escape from Carter’s apartment and ran around the street corner, where she was able to call 911 with her phone. Investigators say around 1 p.m. officers arrived at the scene, where the victim then lead them to Carter’s apartment and identified him as the attacker.

Carter was then taken into custody and booked into the George Bailey Detention Facility. He faces three felony counts on rape by force, false imprisonment with violence, and sex with a foreign object by force, with his bail set at $100,000.
