Two Arrested on Suspicion of Auburn Car Thefts

PLACER-  Early June, 14 Auburn officers arrested a couple found to be in possession of stolen property, including a firearm.

Dispatchers responded to a report received at approximately 3:30 a.m. regarding two individuals engaging in questionable behavior near Burlin and Perkins Ways.  Officers made contact with 22-year-old Mickey Hu and 18-year-old Morgan Russo.  During the investigation, officers seized belongings from the subjects that police concluded were stolen from various vehicles in the area, three victims were targeted.

Police communicated with two of the victims and warned them of the theft, and a third victim was contacted later that day.

Hu and Russo were arrested and booked into the Placer County Jail on suspicion of felony theft and possession of stolen property and conspiracy.  Hu’s bail was set for $20,000 and Russo’s bail was set for $5,000.

Police suggest that residents should avoid keeping valuables in the car, and keep doors locked at all times.
