Vallejo traffic stop leads to recovery of alleged stolen gun

Vallejo police recovered a stolen gun Saturday afternoon after a traffic stop led to a search of the suspect’s home.

Franklin was pulled over on Florida Street when police discovered drugs in his car

According to the Vallejo Times Herald, police stopped a car in the 2200 block of Florida Street at about 3:35 p.m. for a traffic violation. Officers reported that they could smell an odor of marijuana as they approached the vehicle.

The officers asked the driver to step out of the vehicle for a search. During the search, officers found a “large amount” of methamphetamine. They believed the amount found was to be used for sale, police said.

According to the Vallejo Times Herald, the police requested a search warrant for the suspect’s home, located in South Vallejo. At about 6:30 p.m. the warrant was served, and police searched the home where they found an allegedly stolen gun.

James Franklin, 40, was arrested by police and booked into Solano County jail.
