San Jose teen arrested for robbery and burglary

A 16-year-old girl has been arrested on robbery and burglary charges in connection with an incident at a Milpitas mall last month.

According to Milpitas police, officers responded to the Burlington Coat Factory at Great Mall on April 27 on a report of a robbery. The victim told police she was walking through the parking lot talking on her cell phone when the suspect ran up and snatched the phone from her hand and ran away. The victim fell and broke her arm as a result of the incident.

Authorities say a witness was able to provide investigating officers with a suspect vehicle description and license plate number. Detectives took over the case and identified their juvenile suspect last week. When she was brought in for an interview, detectives determined she was also allegedly responsible for a commercial burglary at Burlington Coat Factory.

The suspect, whose identity is not being released because she is a minor, was transported and booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for robbery, burglary, and conspiracy.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact Milpitas police at (408) 586-2400. Anonymous tips may be left by calling (408) 586-2500.
