Vacaville police continue to search for stolen rifle

Vacaville police are continuing investigations in connection to a stolen assault rifle.

According to a recent press release, a man stole an assault rifle worth $1400 from the Guns, Fishing and Other Stuff Sporting Goods Store on Butcher Road in Vacaville on March 11. Since the theft police have arrested three people.

Vacaville police investigations led them to a home in Winters on March 22 where they arrested Adam Purkey, 27. A search of the home did not yield the assault rifle, however. The following week, police visited and searched another home in Winters. Christina Jara, 30, was arrested, yet the assault rifle was still not found.

Both Purkey and Jara have pleaded not guilty to felony charges. The two are scheduled for probable cause hearings on Tuesday.

Police arrested Geovanny Gomez, 31, of Woodland the day after Jara’s arrest. Police were still not able to recover the assault rifle. Charges have not yet been filed against Gomez, according to the Daily Republic. After three arrests, Vacaville police are continuing their hunt for a stolen assault rifle.

Vacaville police are asking anyone with information about the stolen rifle to contact the Vacaville Police Department at 707-449-5200 or Detective Nathan Benevides at 707-449-4724.
