Carjacking suspects in Caruthers being sought

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Department is asking the public’s help for the whereabouts of two males involved in a carjacking and assault of a man near Caruthers.

The two men being sought are Anthony Ruiz, 26, and Luis Ruiz, 21, who are wanted in connection of a carjacking that occurred this past Friday morning near the intersection of West and Clarkson Avenues in West Fresno County.

Sheriff spokesman Chris Curtice described two weapons that both men used to pull off their crime.

“Luis Ruiz used his vehicle to ram the victim’s vehicle, which caused the vehicle to crash,” Curtice said. “Anthony Ruiz then used the metal lid of a 55 gallon drum to beat the victim in the face and head, causing the victim to lose consciousness.”

The victim, whose name was not identified, was driving a red colored 1991 Honda Accord, with a California license that read 6CFE075. Curtice confirmed that Anthony Ruiz was the one who drove off in the stolen Accord.

Luis Ruiz was following him in another Honda vehicle, but a white colored Honda Civic that’s a mid-90’s model. Both vehicles were last seen heading northbound on West Avenue and heading towards the town of Caruthers. No other description of the Honda Civic was made public, including the license plate numbers.
