Burglaries solved, but investigation continues

REDLANDS – Police are still investigating a string of burglaries after arresting a Yucaipa man for at least four commercial and vehicle burglaries.

Investigators are still trying to identify victims of several vehicle and commercial burglaries after arresting Steven Richard Brockus, 23, who is from Yucaipa, a neighboring community.

Police located stolen items in a storage unit in Calimesa, about 10 miles east of Redlands, including a stolen golf cart, hand tools, power tools, specialized automotive tools and car stereo parts.

“The items in the storage locker are estimated at $80,000 to $100,000,” said Redlands police spokesman Carl Baker.

Baker said Brockus will also be charged with the theft of a truck off the lot at Redlands Ford to move stolen items. “He did not take the truck off the premises,” Baker said, “but he is being charged with vehicle theft for the unauthorized use of the truck.”

Investigators believe the thefts occurred from early September through October. Police have identified about half the stolen items and are looking for additional victims.
