Arrest Made after Vehicle Pursuit

The Sheriff’s Analysis Driven Law Enforcement Team (SADLE) of San Diego has arrested a man after a short pursuit that followed the discovery of a stolen vehicle.

The suspect, 32 year-old Michael Green, was found to be in possession of the stolen car near Campo Road in the Casa De Oro area early Monday morning. The vehicle was reported as stolen from a Solana Beach home burglary two nights before.

While conducting surveillance on the vehicle, SADLE noticed Green getting into the car and driving away. Deputies followed the vehicle and attempted to carry out a traffic stop. Green refused, and fled the area, which resulted in a one mile, high speed vehicle chase.

During the chase, Green lost control of the car due to his speed and the curves in the roadway. He then drove the car through a parking lot and crashed into a delivery truck. He got out of the car and fled by foot. Sheriff’s K-9’s were released to track Green; he was later found on a hillside hiding in a tree.

Witnesses were able to identify Green as the driver of the vehicle. He was taken into custody and when authorities searched his person, he was found to be in possession of stolen property related the residential burglary in Solana Beach and also had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants.

Green was booked into the San Diego Central Jail and charged with being in possession of a stolen vehicle, being in possession of stolen property, felony evading, reckless driving, and felony hit and run.

There were no reported injuries in the collision involving the delivery truck.
