Gang Impact Team conducts enforcement operations in Palm Springs

“In the evening hours of August 8, 2020, PSPD officers, Riverside County District Attorney’s Gang Impact Team and the East end Post Release Accountability and Compliance Team (PACT) conducted directed enforcement operations in the Santiago Sunrise Village Mobile Home Park and the Desert Highland Gateway Estates neighborhood due to recent shootings and homicides in these areas.

During this operation, 5 total arrests were made in each of the neighborhoods for various felony and misdemeanor violations. Of those arrests, one juvenile was arrested for his involvement in the recent shootings plaguing these two neighborhoods. This same juvenile was found in possession of a loaded firearm that is believed to have been used in several of the reported shootings.

The remaining arrests included outstanding felony warrants from previous cases for weapons and drug possession, and felon in possession of firearms.

All 5 subjects were booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, CA and the Juvenile Detention Facility in Indio, CA.

PSPD and allied agencies will continue operations in these neighboring communities until those responsible for these shootings and homicides are brought to justice.

The Palm Springs Police Department is asking that anyone with information on any of these incidents call the PSPD Crimes Against Persons Unit at 760-323-8129 or report information anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 760-341-7867.”
