A man has been arrested and accused of killing his two roommates in the Big Bear home they all shared.

The suspect, 41-year-old Ralph Meneses, called 911 around 1:23 PM on Monday, December 2, 2019, and reported to police that he had shot both of his roommates after they had attacked him.

When police and medics arrived at the home in Big Bear, located in the 500 block of West Sherwood Avenue, they found one of the roommates, 66-year-old Cynthia Kilough, suffering from gunshot wounds. She was taken to a local hospital for her injuries but did not survive. The other roommate, 35-year-old Jeffrey Tiner, was found deceased at the scene.

Mendes himself appeared to have puncture wounds on his midsection, which police later determined were self-inflicted.

“Through investigation, detectives determined Meneses, Kilough, and Tiner were involved in an argument, which escalated to a physical assault,” according to the release. Mendes opened fire on his roommates, which resulted in their murder. He was arrested and booked at Central Detention Center without bail.
