Two nights, two incidents, two sets of gun charges

VACAVILLE — Two separate incidents have resulted in two arrests for gun charges in recent weeks.

On the evening of Wednesday, September 4, police contacted 32-year-old Steven Roberts on the 700 block of Shady Glen Avenue, following up on a tip that he’d been walking around with a gun tucked into his waistband.

He was ultimately taken into custody on a variety of gun charges, as well as possession of suspected methamphetamine.

The next night, Thursday, September 5, officers arrived on the 300 block of Alamo Drive to investigate a suspicious vehicle. As soon as they arrived, one of the occupants fled on foot, discarding his backpack in the front yard of a nearby home as he ran.

Once he was caught, officers looked through his backpack and found a loaded handgun.

The individual, identified as 20-year-old Jaylen Douglas of San Francisco, was taken into custody on charges including felon in possession of a firearm, as well as violating the terms of his felony probation.
