Police Identify Suspect in Placerville Homicide

PLACERVILLE — The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department has announced that 24-year-old Bernardo Castillo has been identified as the primary suspect in a recent homicide.

At 5:15 AM yesterday, June 13th, deputies responded to a residence on the 3000 block of Newtown Road after reports of a stabbing. There they found an adult woman dead and a child suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The child was taken to a local hospital for emergency medical attention. Thus far, his/her current condition is unknown.

Deputies are now on the lookout for Castillo, as well as a 2002 white Ford Explorer (CA license plate #4XTF911) which may be connected to the incident.

Castillo himself is described as a Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes, standing approximately 6 feet tall and weighing around 190 pounds.

Given that this is an open investigation, the Sheriff’s Department urges anyone who may have information on Castillo, the vehicle, or the whereabouts of either, to get in touch. The office can be reached via phone at (530) 621-6600.
