OAKLEY –Two men suspected of burglarizing a bait and fishing tackle shop were arrested on Wednesday morning during a traffic stop, by a sharp-eyed officer who spotted several new fishing rods inside a vehicle.

Police arrived at Dan’s Delta Outdoors, 1625 Main Street, shortly before 8 a.m. on March 1 to investigate a reported burglary; then another officer made a traffic stop at about 8:15 a.m. on East Cypress Road near Main Street—and netted the two suspects.

The store owner identified the fishing rods found inside the vehicle as having been stolen earlier.
William Boyd, 35, and Jeffrey Erck, 24, both of Brentwood, were each charged with commercial burglary and possession of stolen property.

Boyd is in custody at the West County Detention Facility, held for $170,000 bond. Erck is being held at the Martinez Detention Facility; his bail was set at $60,000.
