Men Arrested at Shopping Center Booked at Marin County Jail

The Village of Corte Madera

CORTE MADERA – Two men charged with burglary, identity theft, and conspiracy to commit a crime were arrested on January 26 at the Village of Corte Madera shopping center, located on Redwood Highway.

Desean Demois-Andrew Watson, 28, of Oakland and Lyserick D. Morgan, 30, of Antioch, were both arrested and charged with burglary, identity theft, conspiracy to commit a crime, and resisting an officer. They’re being held at Marin County Jail, each for $250,000 bail.

Security staff monitored the suspects and conducted a preliminary investigation at the Nordstrom clothing store, prior to calling police to report a suspected fraudulent transaction involving identity theft.

Both suspects were leaving the store as two officers from the Marin Central Police Authority arrived; then Morgan allegedly hit one officer in the face and ran away. He was apprehended anyway at 2:27 p.m., more than an hour after Watson was taken into custody.

Additional officers from Mill Valley and Sausalito assisted, in addition to helicopter surveillance provided by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.

The injured officer was treated and released from a nearby hospital.
