Stabbing victim Tyrone Griffin Jr.

HAYWARD – Two men remain in custody for allegedly stabbing to death a father of four children—while he was shopping for presents at a Target store on Christmas Eve.

Police arrested brothers Frankie R. Archuleta, 22, and Jesse E. Archuleta, 25, Hayward residents, on murder charges. Both suspects were booked at Santa Rita Jail early Christmas morning and denied bail.

The victim Tyrone Griffin Jr., 36, of Hayward, is believed to have confronted the suspects for playing loud music with vulgar lyrics in the toy department, which resulted in a fight and his fatal stabbing.

Police arrived shortly after 8 p.m. on December 24th at the Hayward Target store, 2499 Whipple Avenue, where Griffin was found lying on the floor suffering from stab wounds. He later died at a local hospital.

Both suspects were located and arrested shortly before 9 p.m. on the 30000 block of Industrial Parkway Southwest, about a half mile away.

The victim and his girlfriend have four children ages 4 to 12.
