Man arrested for violent Milipitas assault

Aaron Jonathan Davis

MILIPITAS – Milpitas police on Wednesday announced the arrest of Aaron Jonathan Davis, 33, in connection with a violent assault that took place June 12 on Coelho Street.

Officers responded to the 400 block of Coelho Street at about 12:15 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report about a fight involving several subjects.  Upon arrival, they found the victim suffering from blunt force trauma to the head.

Further investigation led police to a residence a few blocks away from the crime scene. SWAT teams were dispatched to the residence and several homes in the area were evacuated, but they discovered no one inside the residence.

On Tuesday, investigators identified Davis as their suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was taken into custody Wednesday after seeking treatment at a local hospital.

“Davis was arrested without incident and booked into jail for the assault with a deadly weapon warrant, felon in possession of a firearm, and felon in possession of ammunition,” Lt. Steven Petrakovitz said in a press release.

The unidentified victim, 20, is being treated for his injuries in an area hospital and is expected to survive.

The investigation into Sunday’s melee remains under investigation and police are asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the Milpitas Police Department at (408) 586-2400.
