Deputies & K9 Chiro Seize Suspected Meth and Fentanyl During Valley Springs Vehicle Enforcement Stop

VALLEY SPRINGS, CA — “On October 25, 2026, at approximately 11:42 p.m., deputies conducted a vehicle enforcement stop in the Valley Springs area for a vehicle code violation.

During the stop, K9 Chiro assisted deputies in detecting suspected narcotics. A subsequent search led to the discovery of the following items:

  • 9.3 grams of suspected methamphetamine
  • 8.7 grams of suspected fentanyl
  • Drug paraphernalia

The driver was arrested, and the above-mentioned narcotics were seized. The driver was booked on charges related to possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and sales of a controlled substance.

Fentanyl is a powerful opioid that can cause a fatal overdose. The seizure of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine is a reminder of the dangers these substances pose to our communities. We appreciate the proactive work of our deputies and K9 partners in identifying suspected illegal narcotics and helping keep our communities safe.

K9 Chiro’s work during this investigation highlights the value of our narcotics detection teams and the training they bring to the field.

We appreciate their continued service to Calaveras County.”
