“A suspect wanted in connection with an October 1 shooting in North Auburn was arrested in Berkeley Wednesday night, October 21, following an investigation by the Placer County Sheriffโs Office.
Crimes Against Persons Detectives identified the suspect as 25-year-old Leothurs Futch III, who was believed to be in the Bay Area. On Wednesday evening, Special Operations Detectives located Futch inside a vehicle in Berkeley and coordinated with the Berkeley Police Department to take him into custody.
Futch was arrested and booked into the Alameda County Jail on a felony Placer County Ramey warrant for Penal Code 246, willfully and maliciously discharging a firearm at an inhabited dwelling. He will be extradited to Placer County to face charges.
The arrest stems from an October 1 incident in the Colonial Village area of North Auburn, where a gunshot was fired into an occupied apartment. Deputies responded shortly after 1:20 a.m. and determined that no one had been struck by the gunfire. The investigation led to an extensive search involving the Placer County Sheriffโs Office and Auburn Police Department. We applaud the diligent work of our detectives and their commitment to ensuring Futch was arrested.”
