Juvenile Suspect Arrested Following Threats Involving Imperial Middle School; Second Elementary Threat Deemed Unfounded
IMPERIAL COUNTY, CA — Law enforcement officers in Imperial responded to two separate school threat reports on Thursday, September 24, 2026, leading to one juvenile arrest and the clearance of a second campus.
In the morning hours, the Imperial Police Department received information concerning a potential threat directed at Frank Wright Middle School. Officers initiated an immediate investigation, which identified a juvenile as the source of the statements. Responding officers took the juvenile into custody on charges under California Penal Code 422.3, which specifically addresses threats made against schools or places of worship. The case has been referred to the Imperial County Probation Department for further handling. Authorities confirmed that following the arrest, no ongoing danger to the school remained.
Later that afternoon, officers responded to Ben Hulse Elementary School after a concerned parent reported receiving a threat after school hours. Following a thorough investigation of the claims, officers determined the threat to be unfounded and verified that no threat existed toward the school or the surrounding community.
Police officials urged community members to immediately report any potential threats directly to law enforcement or school staff rather than sharing unverified information on social media platforms.
