Naval Property Cleared Following Security Investigation in Coronado
CORONADO, CA — Local and military authorities responded to reports of potential hazards near the intersection of Fourth Street and Alameda Boulevard on Thursday afternoon.
At roughly 1:00 p.m. on Oct. 8, units from the Coronado Police Department and Coronado Fire Department joined Navy law enforcement officers on site to address reports of suspicious objects situated on naval grounds. Municipal emergency responders established a secure perimeter around the location, allowing specialized personnel to conduct an inspection.
Members of a Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal team subsequently examined the site and analyzed the objects in question. Upon completing their safety evaluation, specialists confirmed that the materials contained no explosive properties and presented no ongoing danger to the surrounding community.
