Registered Sex Offender Arrested for Violation of Parole
On the evening of Thursday September 24, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (SAFE) Task Force Team conducted a compliance check of registered sex offender, Lloyd Edwards. Edwards was an active parolee and a registered sex offender in the County of Sacramento, after having been convicted for rapes in Chico in 2000, where he was sentenced to three life sentences, plus 51 years.
SAFE detectives arrived at his residence and detained him. He was found living with an adult female and her 5-year-old child. A search of his residence revealed multiple substances in violation of Edwards’ parole conditions. SAFE detectives also located a GPS/SPY/Monitor Detector device in the back trunk of Edwards’ vehicle, likely used to evade law enforcement detection. Edwards was arrested and transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail where he was booked into custody.
In what world does this make sense to anyone? How can someone convicted of these heinous crimes and sentenced to three life sentences be free at 47-years-old, living in our community? How is this fair to his victims, who can no longer take solace in the fact their assailant is locked up?
To add insult to injury, Edwards will likely be back out jail in 5-10 days for this violation. This is not paying your debt to your society. The Board of Parole Hearings continues to operate unchecked, and needs to be held accountable to answer these questions.”
