Joint Operation by SDPD and SDSU Police Leads to Dozens of Arrests and Seizures
SAN DIEGO, CA – A multi-weekend joint law enforcement operation conducted in the College Area near San Diego State University resulted in dozens of arrests, firearm seizures, and narcotics confiscations, authorities announced. The targeted enforcement initiative was carried out by the San Diego Police Department’s Eastern Division alongside the San Diego State University Police Department during evening and overnight hours to address increased activity following the start of the new academic year.
Over the course of the operation, officers responded to nearly 150 calls for service. The joint enforcement efforts yielded: 40 felony arrests 9 misdemeanor arrests 4 firearms recovered 4 DUI arrests Police officials highlighted several significant incidents during the detail: Vehicle Theft and Drug Seizure:
A traffic stop resulted in the apprehension of a suspect wanted on an outstanding warrant for vehicle theft. During the stop, officers discovered approximately 35 grams of suspected controlled substances and $45,000 in cash, leading to charges for narcotics sales and transportation. Motel Party Intervention: Officers responded to a motel room party involving an adult providing alcohol and nitrous oxide to minors.
Authorities detained 11 juveniles inside the room, arrested the adult suspect, and filed protective detention reports for the minors. Warrant Arrest and Weapon Recovery: During a separate vehicle stop, officers contacted a female driver found to have five active misdemeanor warrants. A search yielded pepper spray, a switchblade, illicit drugs, paraphernalia, and more than 70 prescription pills without a valid prescription.
