San Joaquin County Man Arrested for Alleged Felony Evading, Possession of Short-Barrel Rifle
STOCKTON, CA — “Early Monday morning, September 21st, San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office graveyard deputies attempted to stop a vehicle near Eighth Street and Pock Lane in Stockton for vehicle code violations. The driver failed to yield, leading deputies on an approximately two-mile pursuit.
Near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Airport Way, the driver lost control while attempting a turn and the vehicle became disabled. Both occupants fled on foot but were quickly apprehended by deputies.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a short-barreled rifle with a 30-round magazine loaded with 5.56 ammunition.
The driver, 19-year-old Michael Cornejonery, was arrested on charges related to felony evading, possession of a large-capacity magazine, possession of a short-barreled rifle, carrying a concealed firearm, carrying a loaded firearm and resisting arrest.
The passenger, a 15-year-old juvenile, was arrested on weapons-related charges, including possession of a large-capacity magazine and short-barreled rifle, as well as resisting arrest.”
