District Attorney’s Office Successfully Opposes Early Parole for Three Inmates
AMADOR, CA – Local prosecutors announced three successful opposition efforts since September 1 preventing the early parole of state prison inmates with extensive criminal records.
The Board of Parole Hearings denied early release to Joshua Elvers, 38, who is serving a three-year state prison sentence for custodial possession of a weapon under Penal Code section 4502(a). Official records show Elvers’ past convictions include lewd acts on a child under 14, failure to register as a sex offender, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Early parole was also denied for Derek Maydole, 44, currently serving a sentence for possession of a weapon in a penal institution. Court records indicate Maydole’s criminal history dates back to 2001 and includes multiple convictions for felony weapons possession and witness intimidation.
Additionally, state officials denied early release for Douglas Jeffcrum, 27, who is serving time for six felony convictions and one misdemeanor originating from two separate 2024 court cases. Jeffcrum’s convictions include being a felon in possession of a firearm, vehicle theft, and fleeing a pursuing peace officer while driving against traffic.
Prosecuting attorneys stated they will continue submitting formal oppositions to early parole requests for individuals with prior felony histories to ensure sentences are fully served in custody.
