San Luis Obispo Man Arrested for Public Intoxication Following Hate Expression Reports
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA — Authorities arrested a local resident on public intoxication charges following multiple reports of disruptive behavior and offensive attire Sunday evening.
Officers with the San Luis Obispo Police Department responded to the 3900 block of South Higuera Street at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2026. Police initially received a call regarding a man engaged in a verbal altercation with residents at the Creekside Mobile Home Park community pool. The individual departed before officers arrived but was identified by police as 55-year-old Kristoffer Hans Pfister.
Subsequent calls reported Pfister walking through the mobile home park, a Trader Joe’s parking lot, and near Tank Farm Road and Higuera Street while consuming alcohol and wearing a Ku Klux Klan-style garment. Additional reports indicated he threw traffic cones into the street.
Officers located Pfister in the 3900 block of South Higuera Street while he was taking off the attire. Determining that his level of impairment prevented him from caring for his safety, officers arrested Pfister for public intoxication under California Penal Code section 647(f) and booked him into the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
An investigation was conducted to evaluate whether a hate crime occurred. Police determined there was insufficient evidence to support a hate crime charge, though the incident was documented as a non-criminal hate expression.
