HEMET, CA — Local law enforcement officers arrested three individuals during a targeted undercover operation aimed at suppressing retail crime on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

The enforcement action was executed by the Hemet Police Department’s Organized Retail Theft (ORT) Unit in collaboration with investigators from the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office and loss prevention personnel from JCPenney and Harbor Freight. Plainclothes officers and store security worked together inside and around the commercial premises to monitor, identify, and apprehend suspects engaged in unlawful activity.

The collaborative initiative resulted in the detention of three suspects facing multiple allegations under California state law. Specific charges filed include shoplifting under Penal Code section 490.5(a), repeat theft violations under Penal Code section 666.1(a), and probation non-compliance under Penal Code section 1203.2(a).
