Suspects in Custody Charged for Robbery of Antioch Jewelers Store
ANTIOCH, CA —Two 18-year-old Antioch residents remain in custody for allegedly robbing Antioch
Jewelers. Zaimarri T. Williams was arrested on September 10, and Adrian R. Cortez was taken into
custody on September 1.
The robbery occurred on August 31 at approximately 11 a.m. Two masked men entered the jewelry
store at 4359 Hillcrest Avenue. One suspect pepper-sprayed the store owner, and the second suspect
smashed a display case with a hammer. Both men looted trays of jewelry.
A witness saw the suspects fleeing in a getaway vehicle, and reported the license plate to Antioch
police. It was also recorded by a camera license plate reader. Officers recovered the vehicle
unoccupied the following day and impounded it as evidence.
Antioch detectives served a search warrant at an Antioch residence on September 10, where Williams
was arrested. Evidence implicating him in the jewelry store robbery was recovered during the search.
Williams was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility, where he remains in custody in lieu of
$130,000 bond.
Cortez was arrested on September 1 near West Fourth and K streets in Antioch. He reportedly had in
his possession a concealed semiautomatic handgun, and a bag containing a significant portion of the
stolen jewelry. Cortez was assigned to in-home detention with electronic monitoring, with bond set at
$100,000 for release from custody.
Both suspects are charged with second-degree robbery. They are also charged for carrying an
unregistered loaded handgun, with an enhancement for use of deadly/dangerous weapon.
