Correctional Officers Seize Contraband During Sutter County Jail Inspection
SUTTER COUNTY, CA – Correctional officers recovered marijuana, improvised weapons, and unauthorized eating utensils during a routine facility inspection at the Sutter County Jail on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026.
The incident began when staff detected a strong odor of marijuana originating within the facility during a supervisor check. In response, correctional officers initiated a target search of the affected area.
During the search, officers located a quantity of marijuana, eight kitchen sporks, a pack of matches, and an improvised cutting weapon constructed from a broken shaving razor.
Sheriff’s office representatives stated that personnel will continue to conduct facility searches and pursue administrative or legal measures when prohibited items are detected to maintain security within the facility.
