Salton City Schools Placed on Precautionary Lockdown Following Report of Armed Individual
SALTON CITY, CA — The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of an armed individual near two local academic campuses early Thursday morning.
At approximately 6:55 a.m. on August 20, 2026, dispatchers received a call regarding a male carrying a firearm in the area of Dalton Drive and South Marina Drive. The location is situated near Sea View Elementary School.
In response, law enforcement officials instructed administrators at both Sea View Elementary School and West Shores High School to initiate lockdown protocols as a precautionary measure.
Deputies requested operational support from the United States Border Patrol, with agents arriving shortly after to assist in securing the area and conducting a thorough investigation.
Following extensive searches of both school facilities and the surrounding neighborhood, law enforcement personnel concluded their assessment. Authorities subsequently determined that no active threat exists to either educational institution or the surrounding community.
