San Francisco Police Seek Information in Unsolved 2006 Murder of Aubrey Abrakasa

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — On August 14, 2006, at approximately 3:14 p.m., 17-year-old student Aubrey Abrakasa was shot multiple times and killed at the intersection of Grove and Baker Streets in San Francisco. San Francisco Police Department Homicide Investigators are actively seeking assistance from the public to solve the cold case.
The victim’s mother, Paulette Brown, has advocated for her son and other families of homicide victims. In collaboration with the SFPD Homicide Detail and Crime Strategies Division, Brown helped establish a digital poster board in district station lobbies displaying reward bulletins for homicide victims. She also supported legislation to expand reward fund eligibility in homicide cold cases.
Under the “You Can Help, Too” campaign, reward funds may be issued to individuals who provide new information that leads to the filing of criminal charges, including individuals with prior criminal histories or those who choose to remain anonymous.
On Friday, August 14, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., Brown, alongside SFPD investigators, scheduled an event at Grove and Baker Streets to distribute flyers, address the media, and recognize homicide victims and their families. The SFPD Homicide Detail is requesting anyone with information regarding the case to contact investigators or use the anonymous tip line.
